Back-to-school does not mean you have to pack up your beach gear and call it a day on summer fun. In our book, until the boots come out, it’s still game on. From art to jazz to booze and bacon, fill your remaining weekends up with these Chicagoland area activities.

 Shaw’s Oyster Fest

Where: Rush and Hubbard

There will also be music, food trucks, craft beer tents and a new children’s corner of activities to make sure you don’t leave uninspired.

Chicago Magazine Culture Festival

This city if full of cultural things to do and see. If you’ve let it slip you by this summer, get a concentrated dose at this curated event featuring panel discussions from architects Jeanne Gang, Stanley Tigerman, and artist Amanda Williams, insights from the cast behind Steppenwolf and even hear Gillian Flynn read from her book Gone Girl — the one where Doogie Howser got shanked in the movie – sorry, spoiler, but he got shanked, among others.

When: September 26, 10:15 am
Where: 610 South Michigan Ave.

Bonus points: it’s free, but you can always donate.
